Richard Smith BMus(hons) ARCM ARCOdipChD LTCL was appointed as Director of Music at All Saints Church in October 2012.

Richard studied music at Birmingham University and at Birmingham Conservatoire, receiving an M.J.West Memorial Scholarship and winning the Royal College of Organists' John Brook Prize for choral conducting.  He undertook postgraduate studies on the harpsichord at the Munich Hochschule für Musik und Theater and on the organ at the North German Organ Academy, returning to an extensive programme of recitals on some of the UK's finest instruments.  He is currently the director of The LMC, which runs training courses for amateur and professional church musicians in cathedrals across the country.

Richard has held long-term conductorships of the University of Birmingham Chamber Choir, Wantage Choral Society and the Froxfield Choir (Hampshire) and he works regularly with several orchestras in the South of England.  He was a choral bursar at St Peter's Church in Nottingham, a choral scholar at Leeds Parish Church and the organ scholar at St Alphage, Solihull.   From 2001 - 2010 he was the Director of Music at St Mary's Church, Stoke D'Abernon and The Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Reading, two of the few parish churches outside London to maintain fully professional choirs.  He has a busy schedule of choral workshops and concert performances as a conductor and harpsichordist.

Richard moved to Wokingham in 2010 with his wife, Michelle, and his two children Emma and Nicholas.  Locally he is well known for hosting the series of baroque concerts at Wokingham Town Hall and for conducting the 250-strong chorus for the town's Jubilee celebrations.
